first thing to know about Brunswick is its focus
on the arts, recreation and family activities. In fact, a
recent mid-coast Maine marketing study identified the region's
support for the arts as rather extraordinary.

The Maine
State Music Theater calls Brunswick home. Here
you'll find excellent shows by some very talented actors and
actresses, both professional and amateur.

Don't miss the
arts from Bowdoin College!
Bowdoin College is a long established and exclusive private
college. Their support for the arts includes on-going shows,
art exhibitions, and more. The sign at left is part of
their summer concert series.

Perhaps it is
the sheer number of artists
in the area that results in so much art in one place. Brunswick
and the Mid-Coast area are attractive to artists and creative
people of all kinds.

Family
fun and recreation is year round. The park in downtown
Brunswick offers groomed ice skating in the winter (at no charge)
and free outdoor concerts in the summer. There's a great hill
for sledding and a pond for ice hockey in nearby Topsham. Additionally,

And don't forget the
canoe portage upstream of the CMP hydroelectric dam. Here, you
can carry your canoe around the dam. While there, visit the dam's
unique fish observation room. Here, you can view fish as they
migrate upstream across the dam using a fish ladder. |

The Naval Air Station
in Brunswick opens its doors every two years for a free
air show. Usually, they are host to the Blue Angels. |
| The Bike/Walking path
along US-1 connects the towns of Brunswick and Topsham. It winds
along the Androscoggin River. There are benches for rest areas
off the path, as well as camp-like lavatories. The path is enjoyed
by people of all ages. |

There are very
active sports and recreational programs operated by
Brunswick that are well supported by the community. Baseball and
soccer are hugely popular here. Any child who wants to play can
play. |
