Settled in 1793, Litchfield is a lovely rural town just 16 miles southwest of Augusta. Settlement occurred around it’s many ponds, lakes and streams. It encompasses 37square miles and has a population of just over 3100. Some of Litchfield’s attractions include the Litchfield Fairgrounds off the Plains Road, which hosts Litchfield’s annual fair every September. This fun country fair boasts a large midway, and in its many barns and show areas you will find agricultural exhibits, livestock and animal pulling contests, as well as horse competitions.
